The Guyana Institute of Historical runs a research programme on labour, social, women and, Presidential history. It acts as an information exchange. The Institute concentrates on the main printed primary sources for modern history, in particular the history of Guyana and the Caribbean.

Professor Emeritus Joycelyn Loncke, linguist, musician, Pan- Africanist and the authority on the late Guyanese mathematician and author, Norman Cameron, was the first leading Academics to associate with the Guyana Institute.
The Presenters at the annual Research Conference are the authorities in their field. This allows post graduate students to interactwith professors, politicians, sportsmen and, to publish their research findings. GIHR Research Conferences
The Research Conference brings together leading academics, political and social activists, sportsmen and educators, to share their findings with graduuate students, educators and others.
