PROJECTS

The Guyana Institute of Historical runs a research programme on labour, social, women and, Presidential history.   It acts as an information exchange.  The Institute concentrates on the main printed primary sources for modern history, in particular the history of Guyana and the Caribbean.

The Guyana Institute undertakes consultancies.  It also runs 

  1. The Undergraduate Certificate of African Guyanese History

  2. Post graduate programmes in history

  • Certificate

  • Diploma

  • Taught M.A.

  • Research M.A.

  • Registration fee is $30,000.00.  Each unit costs $10,000.00

Professor Emeritus Joycelyn Loncke, linguist, musician, Pan- Africanist and the authority on the late Guyanese mathematician and author, Norman Cameron, was the first leading Academics to associate with the Guyana Institute. 

The Presenters at the annual Research Conference are the authorities in their field. GIHR Research Conferences

The Research Conference brings together leading academics, political and social activists, sportsmen and educators, to share their findings with graduuate students, educators and others.

The presenters of the 2014 Conference were, Mr. Tom Dalgetty, Mr. Ivor Thom, Mr. Jonathan Adams, Mr. Rajendra Rampersaud, Mr. Frederick Kissoon, Mr. Hydar Ally, Mr. Walter George and, Ms. Volda Morris-Williams.

The guest speaker was Dr. Kimani Nehusi.   The Chairs were Dr. Nigel Westmaas, Dr. Winston McGowan and, Mr. Deon Abrams.  There were 4 panels.
